How to unlock Insane Mode in Aisle Zero

Insane Mode has exactly one requirement: 10,000 enemies defeated before the 10:00 mark in Level 12 Survival. Here is what that means.

Insane Mode is not bought, found or unlocked by playing enough. It has one requirement, and it is a number.

The requirement

Defeat 10,000 enemies before the 10:00 mark during Level 12 Survival. Do that once and Insane Mode unlocks permanently for Levels 1–11.

Why Level 12 is where it happens

Level 12 is the endless survival level. It has no final wave and no victory screen, so it is the only level where the enemy count can climb that far. The full campaign list is on the game modes page.

What the challenge actually tests

Ten thousand kills in ten minutes is roughly sixteen enemies a second, sustained. That is not a reflex test — it is a build test. A run that clears enemies one at a time cannot reach the target no matter how well it is played, so the question is whether your build kills crowds.

Favour area over single-target

Perks that widen what you hit, like Wide Load, multiply across the whole crowd. Single-target damage only helps with the enemy you were already killing.

Let the crowd form

A weapon that catches eight enemies is worth eight times one that catches one. That difference is decided by where you stand, not by the weapon.

After it unlocks

Insane applies the Insane difficulty profile to levels you have already played. The maps are the same, so everything you learned still holds.
